The J. N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge and the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge would like to announce the donation of $10,000 to area schools for conservation education-related projects. This money can be used to purchase teaching aids, books, and classroom materials, fund new classroom science projects, take field trips, and conduct work projects in your community or beyond. All schools in the five-county area (Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry, and Glades) are invited to submit Environmental Education or Science related unit proposals. The deadline to submit proposals is November 30, 2017. Approved projects will be announced in December 2017.
Criteria for projects:
1. Projects should have an Environmental Education, Science, Math, Language Arts, or Conservation focus.
2. Each proposal should not exceed $1,000.
3. Projects must be completed by end of school year June 2018 with proper documentation submitted, including receipts. Approved projects will be announced by December 2017.
